Labcal continues to expand its line of authentication solutions with UPEK fingerprint sensors including the SmartPrint Mobile Checker handheld unit for ID card verification, the SmartPrint Desktop Enroller for issuing ID cards, Sentry SAC-2500 and Sentry SAC-3000 physical access control devices, and the TruBlue USB Fingerprint Reader for user identification and ID authentication. Labcal’s new Be.U Mobile rugged reader is algorithm agnostic and can be used with existing AFIS systems. The Be.U Mobile performs 1:1 matching with an ID document, contact or contactless and 1:N matching by storing the fingerprint templates and the credentials in the reader or on a server, and communicates wirelessly with a server via Wi-Fi, GSM or CDMA. “We have deployed many units of the previous version of Labcal’s handheld biometric reader for ID verification and we were very satisfied with the effectiveness of the UPEK fingerprint sensors,” said Rahman Soltan, Managing Director, Synergy Promenade Sdn. Bhd.. “We just started to deploy the new version, the Be.U Mobile, which features the same sensor. The reliability, size and resolution of this sensor are ensuring high performance; it is a key feature for us.” “We chose the UPEK TouchChip fingerprint sensor for the Be.U Mobile because the reliability, size and resolution of the sensor enable us to deliver high quality mobile authentication that our customers and partners demand,” said Hugues Gervais, VP of Sales and Marketing of Labcal and Product Manager for the Be.U Mobile. “Labcal has been deploying products with UPEK fingerprint sensors in our mobile readers for ID card verification as well as physical and logical access devices, and we continue to leverage UPEK’s proven silicon fingerprint sensor technology which is ideal for mobile authentication applications.” “We are pleased that Labcal continues to incorporate our TouchChip fingerprint sensors across their product line,” stated Greg Goelz, VP of Marketing at UPEK. “Labcal latest handheld reader for ID verification promises to enable a growing number of ID card initiatives being rolled out by governments and enterprises globally.” About UPEK, Inc.
